چکیده

Despite the rapid growth in popularity of Jersey breed, most research on dairy cows United States has been done with Holstein breed. Postpartum uterine diseases negatively influence reproductive performance and limited data are available regarding predisposing factors for cows. Our objectives were to determine prevalence risk purulent vaginal discharge (PVD) its effect fertility lactating This was a retrospective observational study collected from 3,822 The Metricheck device used PVD diagnosis, positive cases (≥50% pus exudate) further classified severity using following 4 categories based amount observed: 50 60% exudate, 60 90% 90 100% exudate + fluid detected by palpation per rectum. Univariable multivariable regression analyzes conducted dissect Jerseys major calving-related problems, retained fetal membrane, metritis, days close-up diet. A subgroup (n = 740) scored body condition locomotion scores had blood sampled peripartum determination plasma concentrations nonesterified fatty acids β-hydroxybutyrate. In analysis that considered cows, acids, postpartum β-hydroxybutyrate, not reduced model predictors PVD. Not surprisingly, pregnancy artificial insemination first second services diagnosed compared without addition, associated increased odds loss after service hazard 305 d milk. stratification according observed consistency uterus meaningful, as differences outcomes between diverging amounts retrieved exudate. Risk similar previously reported strong detrimental also
